Updated over a week ago

πŸ” To access the Start Pack overview page, you'll need either Circus Admin, Admin, or Manager access. Departmental access can be granted for Workers to only view or edit Start Packs within certain departments. Learn more about Managing Permissions. This section is only accessible to πŸ–₯️ desktop users.

Overview

This is where the real movie magic happens – inviting, approving and building your team that will help you tell great stories. Use this guide to help you understand the tools to manage Start Packs so you can focus on what you do best – not deal with paperwork.

Navigating Start Packs

Start Packs are organized on a per production basis, so to access them, click on the production from your main dashboard, then in the left menu navigation of the production dashboard, click on the Start Packs icon.

You'll see all the Start Packs that require your review immediately under My Approvals, together with the total number in the red badge. You can also navigate to:

  • All Approvals - Start Packs that require someone else's review

  • Invited - Start Packs with open invites, onboarding and disputed states

  • Approved - Start Packs that have been full countersigned and gone through the entire Chain of Approval

  • Deleted - Start Packs that have been archived and no longer active

Pro Tip: The Processed and Unprocessed tabs have been used to bulk package specific Start Packs, however, this will eventually be deprecated and replaced by our tagging feature.

Resending Invites

If you navigate to the Invited tab, you'll see a Notifications (bell) icon. Click on this to send all Workers with outstanding Start Packs (invited, disputed and onboard) an email reminder to complete their Start Packs.

You can also send a single email reminder by clicking on the More (3 dots) icon next to the Worker's name in the table, then choosing Resend Invite.

πŸ“† Reminders can only be sent once every 24 hours to avoid spamming Workers.

Searching Start Packs

You can search for any Start Pack in the platform by clicking the Search icon in between the navigation and Invite button. Enter anything, like Role Name, Legal Name, Credited As Name, Department or Union and the table below will update in real-time.

To remove the search results, click on the Clear icon (x). To close the search field, click it once more.

Pro Tip: If you're not seeing a Start Pack and you know it should be there, try using the pagination on the bottom of the table. By default, we load 50 Start Packs, but you can increase this up to 500.

Inviting Workers

To invite Workers to the production, click the blue Invite button on the right side of the table, triggering the invite panel with the various invite methods at your disposal. Use this guide to learn more about inviting Workers.

Sorting Start Packs

By default, all Star Packs are sorted by Role Name however you can click on the column headers to sort by additional parameters:

  • Roles - Sorted by Role Name, Full Name (first name) or Last Name. Click on the white caret again to sort again alphabetically, either ascending or descending.

  • Status - Sorted by most recent or oldest update

  • Department - Sorted alphabetically, either ascending or descending

  • Affiliation - Sorted alphabetically, either ascending or descending

  • Est. Start Date - Sorted by most recent or oldest date

Editing Start Packs

You can dispute (edit) a single Start Pack by clicking on the More (3 dots) icon next to the Workers's name in the table, then choosing Edit or Dispute. Use this guide to learn more about Disputing Start Packs.

Deleting Start Packs

In the same menu as above, you can also click Remove Role. Depending on the State of the Start Pack, it can do multiple actions:

  • For invites sent out but no Start Pack has been generated by the Worker, this only deletes the invite for the particular role.

  • For Start Packs submitted by Workers that have not been fully approved, this deletes the Start Pack permanently.

  • For Start Packs submitted by Workers that have been fully approved, this only archives the Start Pack and stored it in the Deleted tab.

So in this case, if a Worker has submitted multiple Start Packs (ie. Production Manager & Co-Producer), you delete or archive one Invite/Start Pack while keeping the other active.

Resetting Approvals

If the Chain of Approval was recently edited and a Start Pack is stuck in limbo with no one to approve or sign, you can click on the More (3 dots) icon next to the Worker's name in the table, then choose Reset Approvals. This will kick the Start Pack to the first person in the Chain of Approval to ensure they are approved or signed by everyone.

Tagging Start Packs

Use our tagging feature to add unique labels to each Start Pack and keep track of Workers. For example, you might want to keep track of certain Workers who are on a skeleton unit, or a certain Worker who can perform first aid.

To add a tag, click on the row of the Start Pack under the Tags column. You have several options:

  • Choose an existing tag by selecting it from the dropdown list.

  • Apply a new tag by typing it in, then clicking Create <Tag Name>.

  • Delete a tag, click on the clear (x) icon next to the tag it will remove it permanently.

Tags will also appear on and can be edited when the Start Pack is opened.

Granting Access

To see who has access to Start Packs, click on the Access (lock) Icon in the top right of your device. If you're looking to grant someone access, note that you can only do that with either Circus Admin or Admin access levels. Use this guide to better understand Granting Access.

To close the Access panel, click on Collapse (Two arrows) Icon next to the panel.
