Enabling or disabling 2FA settings via SMS or Okta Verify

Updated over a week ago

At Circus we take security very seriously. Certain productions may request that Two-Factor Authentication is enabled for some or all Workers in order to onboard to access a production. If you've already registered for an account, and would like to add an extra layer of protection for yourself with Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), here's how:

Enabling 2FA

Once you've logged in, click on your profile avatar in the bottom left of your screen, then on Account Settings. You'll have two authentication options:

  • Via SMS - You'll enable authentication with a code sent via text. Each time you log in, you'll be prompted to enter a different code.

  • Via QR Code - You'll be authenticated by downloading the Okta Verify App and scanning a QR code to enable this method. Each time you log in, you'll be asked to open the app and verify that it was you requesting access to the account.

Click Get Started next to the preferred method to begin.

Via SMS

After clicking Get Started, enter your phone number and click Send Text. Enter the 6 digit code you've been texted from your mobile device. Once you click Continue, this method will be enabled.

Via Okta Verify

After clicking Get Started, you will then be prompted to Download the Okta Verify app from the Google Play or the Apple App Store. Download and Install the Okta Verify app.

Once the Okta Verify app is downloaded, click I've downloaded the app within your Circus Account Settings. A QR code will then display on your screen, which you will scan via the Okta Verify App.

Open the Okta Verify app on your mobile device and select Add Account. If you've already added an account to the App you can add a new one by clicking on the '+' icon in the Top Right of your device.

Choose Organization for Account Type. This is only visible on the new version of Okta Verify so if you don't see it, proceed to the next step below.

Tap Scan a QR Code.

You will then be prompted to scan the QR code on the Circus Account Settings page.

Once scanned, the Circus page will refresh and Two-Factor Authentication will be enabled on your account. Circus will send a Push notification to your device once every 24 hours when you log in to Circus as an added layer of protection on your account. You will also receive an email confirming the activation of 2FA.

🚨 DO NOT delete the Okta Verify app or account after use as you will need this to log back into your account.

Disabling 2FA

To disable 2FA, click on the Disable button next to enabled authentication method. You will then receive a 'Security method reset' email from Okta, and will now be able to log in without the 2FA prompt.

Troubleshooting

I didn't receive my SMS code

If cannot logon because you didn't receive a code, please send an email to support@circushr.com and we'll sort it out for you.
