Managing Multi-Factor Authentication

Enabling or disabling MFA settings on your account

Updated over a week ago

At Circus we take security very seriously. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an account login process that requires users to enter more information than just a password to access their account. For example, users might be asked for an authenticator code, an SMS verification code, or fingerprint scan. This extra layer of security helps verify the user's identity and prevent bad actors from gaining access to their account.

Enabling MFA while logging in.

Certain workspaces or productions may request that Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is enforced for all users in order to access certain areas. When logging in, and we detect a production or workspace requires MFA, you will be asked to enable MFA before accessing your dashboard.

Authentication Methods

We offer three different methods for authentication:

  • Google Authenticator

  • SMS/Voice call

  • Security key (biometrics) - coming soon

Google Authenticator

  1. Open your Google Authenticator app (or similar code generator app)

  2. Click + at the lower right corner

  3. Scan a QR code

  4. Scan the QR code that shows on your screen. Once you scan the code, you'll be sent a one-time code for you to enter to continue MFA enrollment.

SMS/Voice call

  • If you choose SMS/Voice Call, you'll get a text or a call with a six-digit code that you can enter to confirm your identity

  • Please note that Circus can only support US or Canada phone numbers at this time

Security key (biometrics)

  • If your personal device supports biometrics such as FaceID or fingerprint, you can opt to use these to confirm your identity

  • You’ll need to choose SMS/Voice or Authenticator as a backup option before activating the Security key/biometrics method

Enabling MFA while logged in

If you want to add an extra layer of protection to your account while you're already logged in, click on your profile avatar in the bottom left of your screen, then on Account Settings. Then, choose Configure MFA and follow the same steps as above.
