Managing Timesheet Settings

Learn how to implement a chain of approval and customize Timesheet settings.

Updated over a week ago

🔐 To manage Timesheet settings, you'll need Circus Admin access. Learn more about Managing Permissions. đŸ–„ïž This feature is accessible on all desktop devices.

Overview

You don’t need to run payroll with Circus to use Timesheets—track your workers’ hours on each production with weekly or bi-weekly submissions. If you are processing payroll with us, Timesheets automatically calculate using our hours-to-gross engine and flow directly into payroll runs. Just approve and pay—we’ll handle the deposits to worker bank accounts..

Accessing Settings

To access Timesheet settings, go to your production dashboard, click the settings icon, and select 'Timesheets' from the left-hand menu.

From there, you can:

  • Enable Timesheets

  • Configure Timesheet settings for all workers

  • Edit the Timesheet approval chain

Activating Timesheets

To activate Timesheets, simply toggle on 'Enable Timesheets'.

Note that any worker that is invited with their pay being processed as 'Payroll' and has submitted a start pack will have access to Timesheets.

Adjusting Settings

You'll also have two Timesheet formats to choose from:

  • Weekly Format (default) - Worker can track times for a 7 day work week on a single Timesheet, which is the most standard timesheet format for the industry.

  • Bi-Weekly Format - Worker can track times for a 14 day work week on a single Timesheet. Note that this option is not available for clients processing payroll with Circus.

In addition, you can customize additional settings

  • Work Week Starting Day defaults the day of the week each Timesheet should start on. or example, productions typically start a work week on Monday.

  • First Pay Period Ends allows you to indicate the end date of the 2-week period so that all timesheets will align with the same bi-weekly schedule.
